I don't think that's an accurate assessment. Steelers were 3rd in the league in TOP, something like 12 seconds behind first.
Off the top of my head, the offense had at least 1 TD in Q4 with GB, KC, OAK and SD and the defense kept giving up long scoring drives immediately after. The offense definitely did not hold up their end in some other games.
The real culprit, IMO, was the soft defense sitting back with large cushions getting picked apart as they have in the past, only this time there was no Polamulu to contribute to a key play to get off the field. I know how solid the '08 defense was, but I remember a lot of tight games with teams driving for the tying score, holding my breath, and fortunately someone would step up to make a play.
The Q4 pass defense has serious issues that Troy may mask some, but it needs major work.
